Keeping in line with our belief system that overproduction and overconsumption are the main cause of our environments downfall, at Last Layer we do not produce seasonal collections. We listen to our customers and produce when we feel the need or desire to add new ranges or styles to our standard collections, defying the business model of mainstream fashion brands. We believe that businesses and consumers both share an equal responsibility in maintaining a clutter free world plagued by the current trend of excessive consumption and abuse of our natural resources.
We offer full transparency because we believe knowing the story of our purchases can help strengthen the connection between people and product. To know the roots and creators of our pieces may help to rethink before buying into disposable clutter.
The fast fashion industry, being the second biggest polluter in the world (only after oil), is incredibly involved and has a devastating impact to people and the environment at every level; Toxic chemicals dumped in rivers, factories full of mistreated workers, expendable clothing in our wardrobe and yesterdays ‘trends’ in our landfills.
Our mission is to empower, educate and encourage all players large and small: It’s the daily choices that people and communities make as consumers that have the ability to change our world that is so desperately in need.
Our focus isn't simply selling tangible items but spreading the values and ideas that they represent.
