Founder and Director of Last Layer is Zepha Jackson. Her love for the environment, animals and humanity all began at a young age growing up in Australian coastal town, the Sunshine Coast. After leaving her hometown at age 15 she travelled the world, working throughout the entertainment and fashion industry, when she based herself in the Philippines for a few years, learning and exploring clothing production and manufacturing. Zepha created Last Layer to fill the gap in the fashion industry for ethically made, cruelty-free, sustainable pieces that don't compromise style or quality. While creating Last Layer, she was unhappy with the options available for manufacturing due to lack of transparency and reliability, she co-founded and built an ethical clothing factory to ensure no values were compromised. The factory is called, Not A Stitch Up, located on a rice paddy in Canggu, Bali, Indonesia where Zepha and her business partner for the factory, Em Gurr are based.
This allows her to be hands on and flexible with Last Layer while also welcoming and managing other brands to produce there.

Our natural apparel collection is made in house at in our sewing shop in Canggu, Indonesia.
Last Layer's Founder, Zepha Jackson and her business partner, Em Gurr, opened an ethical manufacturing production house called Not A Stitch Up.
We are two Aussie girls who have been working in the fashion industry for a long time and have been through the struggle of production for both our own labels and others we have worked for.
We have encountered the struggles that are associated with production in a foreign country including, language and cultural barriers, a lack of transparency and large minimum order qualities. These issues are what inspired Not A Stitch Up. Our goal is to make ethical clothing production easy, fun and accessible for up and coming designers. We live on the island minutes away from our factory, where we spend our days working and communicating with our workers.
We believe having an epic work environment is key. Not just for our team but for us too.
Drop us a line if you want to come for a visit and we shall pop the kettle on, or pop the champagne - choice is yours.

Artisans are the backbone of their local communities. Creating jobs and preserving traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation.
Supporting artisans and small communities has the potential to impact an entire economy.
